There appears to be a gap in the core.php, and css, concerning post formats. This is producing a loss of even standard post formatting on anything but the single page entry-content. Is this by design? If so, please help me understand, because it makes the front page posts illegible. Please see osteoconoclasty.ilpdev.com for example. Also, what happened to the remain post format types? When I activate them in my child’s functions.php, they hook into nothing from the parent. ???? Incomplete theme?

    Hello ilp,

You can add post formatting from the child theme.
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Formats#Formats_in_a_Child_Theme

However in the pro theme AcmeBlogPro, we have added support for video post and other post formats.
Please check it out here http://www.acmethemes.com/themes/acmeblogpro/.

Thank you. Yes, I have added post formatting, but my question is also about why posts on the front page are stripped of all formatting and do not display properly.

you can see it plainly on my site for which I have provided a link in my original post of this thread. the formatting of the standard post format is discarded on the front page, but if you click on the post and view it as a single page then the formatting is honored. it is this way on your demo site as well, so i imagine you have done this by design for some reason, but I cannot guess what that reason might me.

We think we have finally understood your questions. By default in the front-page excerpt will display but in the single page full content will display in the free theme.
However in the pro theme, you can display either excerpt or content with number of words too in the front-page, which is more reliable for your requirements too.
Please check out pro theme here http://www.acmethemes.com/themes/acmeblogpro/.

    Best Regards,
    AcmeThemes
