Thank you so much for using our theme. Yes it seems that the website looks slow due to the high image size. Can you please use image compression to reduce the size of the image and use that image on the slider. If you want to make the photography site faster, its recommended to use the image compression like Tiny PNG.Please try it and let us know the results.

Yes, exactly. No need to put in functions.php. Make the same file path on the child theme. The background image will replace automatically. Please try.
