I didn’t think I’d need anymore advice, but I was mistaken.

I’m wanting to modify some files in acmethemes/hooks

So I copied the files over from the parent theme into the child theme and placed them within the hooks subdirectory.

After that, I noticed this breaks the frontend of the website.

I had also copied over the template-parts into the child theme, same result, it breaks the frontend of the site.

Can you please provide some feedback how I should go about edit certain files, but from within the child theme. I am basically wanting to once over everything, and edit all the widgets, archive pages, search pages, templates to add and remove certain things.

As I discussed with you in private, I am trying to turn this child theme into a Review Site theme, so I want to add my star ratings, grades, and change some verbiage, like change POSTS to REVIEWS, etc.

    I really appreciate your help.

    Thanks again.

    Hello icryptic,
Thank you so much for trying to edit theme with yourself and we are so happy that you are editing theme with Child Theme approach. We are really happy to got the client as you.
If you are trying to edit the file of parent with child theme approach, please follow the guidelines to edit.
    1. Create a child theme. (You already have it)
    2. Make the same directory path as parent theme on child theme.
Example: If you want to edit the file which is inside the acmethemes/hook/social-links.php make the same directory path on child theme. acmethemes/hook/social-links.phpNo need to add the the files inside the directory, just put the file which you are going to edit.
    3. If you need to edit some other files, please follow the same process on 2.

If you need any help, please write the question here.
    Thanks

I was doing the exact thing you had mentioned to do but for some reason it was breaking my frontend. I am pleased to let you know, I figured out what I WAS DOING WRONG.

Turns out, I had both the premium and the free version in my Documents folder. I mistakenly copied over a few of the files from the free theme by mistake, rather than copying over the files from the premium theme.

Even I make mistakes. Thanks for your guidance. You are appreciated.
