Slider speed setting has no effect

Hi, we have a slider set up with three slides, using the custom selection. Pagination speed adjusts the speed of the actual transition, but the slider speed, which I presume should effect how long each slide is stationery for, seems to have no effect at all. This is quite urgent, my client wants to slow it down, which should be simple.
